As many of you would be aware, I’ve been trying to build a habit of posting to this blog once every day since mid December. In that time, I’ve learned a lot about writing on the internet and also about the topics I’ve written about. I really admire and respect people like Fred Wilson, who has been posting something every day to his blog for years. I wanted to try blogging every day until the end of January to see what keeping that kind of pace up would mean.

I’ve also, however, learnt a lot about forming a new habit and how that works. It’s been a lot of fun. So in March, I’d like to invite you to join me on a little experiment. I’d like to try posting something every day in March with you. Xavier gave something similar to this a bash last year and Ross suggested it would be fun to try that with blogging. Xavier ran a program called Mindful March, where a group of people got together and committed to meditating every day through March. This March, let’s try blogging every day.

Quite a few of you have got in touch with me, privately or on twitter, about how easy it can be to post something when you just have the intent of putting something up online. When we all do this together, it’s quite a unique experience and fun as well. We’ll share in each others posts and see what each other is doing. I’m looking forward to it, whether 1 person joins me or 100.

So, this is going to be quite simple. Here’s the rules for you this March, if you would like to participate

1) Let me (and everyone else) know you are participating by posting a comment on this post below.

2) You need to post something to the internet every day. However, a tweet will not count. It needs to be something more than that. It could be a photo of something every day (Like Buster). It could be a blog post every day (Like Fred). It could be a video every day. Something.

3) Design does not matter. I often hear people say they’d love to get in to blogging but they need to get a website designed first. That doesn’t matter this March. For this month, just post something to the internet wherever you can find a space. Luckily, there is a lot of space. Post something every day and in April we can chat about design and how to go about getting a site set up.

  4. Love, love, love the idea. I try nanowrimo every year and fail. This feels more doable. I’ll probably focus on learning, with some personal stuff thrown in.

  8. Wonderful idea! Count me in. I always wanted to write daily posts, but i’ve been inconsistent. This will give me motivation! Thanks for the idea, Steve – looking forward to it 🙂

  21. Count me in. I love a good 30 Day Challenge. I’ve already done the challenge “write every day for 30 days” but that was more journaling. That was tough and this will be tougher.

  33. Was the guy that was talking about enormous inverse blogging cold turkey  meaning that he has never blogged before and has been offline for the past few months due to constant ground fires?  Cos if so, that’s me too! And if he can take it on… so can I?

      1. Marty, this is brilliant! Thanks for pulling those together. I’m not too sure whether we’ve got everyone there but I’m going to do a little stocktake tomorrow and i’ll ping you with any that are left of it. 

        I’m not sure how you can open it up and share editing ownership. This looks pretty good though if we can pull together all the feeds into one place.

  37. I was thinking that maybe we need a Twitter hashtag for this project, to make an easy way of seeing all of the content contributed as a part of it.
    My suggestion would be #b03 its short and not used nor negatively obvious. Thoughts?
