Tonight Australian time, it will be Square’s third birthday. When I was in San Francisco earlier this month Ross and I dropped in to have lunch with Xavier and got the tour of their awesome office. It’s certainly a bubbling and exciting company working towards a big mission; revolutionising how we handle money and transactions.

I didn’t really understand Square until I heard that about 95% of people in the Western world can pay for something with a credit card, and only about 6% can accept those payments. Square has essentially set about to balance that equation and in doing so they’ve become a very fast growing company. Check out this post for some of the highlights – the most surprising for me is that the average purchase is $75! I’ll be interested to see what their 4th year brings. Hopefully, an expansion into Australia so I can use it!
